On 18 August, we commemorate Vietnam Veterans' Day on the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan in 1966. We remember the sacrifices of those who died and say thank you to almost 60,000 Australians who served during the 10 years of our involvement in the Vietnam War. Vietnam Veterans’ Day is commemorated on 18 August. In 2023 we commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War. Some 60,000 Australians served in Vietnam, which was the longest conflict Australia was involved in during the 20th Century. From 10am on Vietnam Veterans’ Day (18 August) 2023, the Australian Government will host a national 50th anniversary commemorative service at the Australian Vietnam Forces National Memorial in Canberra. A Vietnam Veterans' Day Remembrance Service will be held at ANZAC Square, Brisbane on Sunday 18th August 2024, commencing at 11:00 AM. Guests to be seated by 10:40am. The Remembrance Service is to honour those who fell during the Vietnam War and those who served.
